Gd. boxes of metal- bodied rubber-faced type and the appliances necessary for its use. The firm manufacture various sized boxes of type, for use in offices, &c, but this, which they term ' The Family Outfit,' is designed for use in marking HneD, printing labels, headings to note paper, cards, &c., and is certainly the one which will prove most generally useful to the readers of our paper, as tne type is quite sufficient for all the purposes named — the box con- taining sixty small and forty-four capital letters, and a number of types for punctuation, &c. In addition to the type, the box under notice contains a type holder in nickel silver, two ink pads, a bottle of ink, and a pair of tweezers for picking up and setting the type in the holder. With the apparatus and materials supplied, even the most inexperienced person will find no difficulty in obtaining a good even printing, such as amateurs could not hope to produce from metal-faced type without a large amount of preparation and a good deal of practice. The types in the sample box sent us are thoroughly well made, and when set up give such beautifully sharp and even impressions tbat we think the makers are well within the mark when they claim that their rubber faced type combines the advantages of the rubber stereotype with the sharpness and accuracy of ordinary type, and that the set, as tent out by them, affords the most complete marker yet produced for liuen and family printing. Indeed, the only thing that is required to make this little outfit perfect for family requirement is a set of numerals, which, apparently by some oversight, has been omitted."

The Electric Light seems to possess a singular fascination for the fish, for they quickly flock round its rays, and may be seen aking the baited hooks.

In consequence of increasing inquiries from the Colonies for my Eau de Cologne, the only genuine, J ,5eg to submit my Price Current.
At the same time I beg to call special attention to the following facsimile of my Trade Mark, for the protection of which I have instituted thirteen suits in the High Court of Chancery, all of which have been decided in my favour.
All similar Labels being more or less imitations of the same, I shall proceed as before against all persons ailing or exposing for sale any such imitations.
I only prepare one quality of Eau de Cologne. This quality never varies in the slightest degree, and there as not been the smallest change in the manufacture since the year 1709, when it was invented by my ancestor.
Orders equal to at least 12 dozen short bottles will be promptly executed at 12s. 6d. per dozen, against my ill drawn at three months from the date of invoice, delivered free on board the export ship, at Rotterdam, mtwerp, Hamburg, or Bremen, no charge being made for the case and packing, but insurance charged extra. \ per cent, discount is allowed for orders equal to at least 100 dozen, but on no smaller quantities.
I may add that, as I do not draw on the Colonies, all Orders must be accompanied by a credit on some tondon House, or permission to draw on same at three months.
The Goods can also be shipped in transit through London at a very small additional expense, full particulars f which may be obtained of my Sole Agents for Great Britain and Ireland : —

The manufacture of officinal and other ready-made Pills for Physicians' prescriptions has been, on our part confined to those coated with sugar and round in shape ; because an experience of more than a quarter of a century serves to convince us that sugar is the only proper material with which to coat a pill ; in confirmation of
which we append the following reason :—
1. — Because sugar is more soluble than gelatine, glue, chalk, or talc, of which the two former are the same in substance and properties! " Sugar-coated puis are more soluble than gelatine-coated or compressed pills." — Prof. Remington t

2. — That according to our process, no sub-coating of insoluble shellac is necessary.
3. — That the direct application of ~it is entirely avoided, and the masses can be coated when so soft as not o admit of being dipped in a hot solution of gelatine, or other substance.
4. — Sugar as a coating is not incompatible, as is the case with gelatine, when brought in contact with certain kinds of food, astringent fruits, or wine containing Tannin, by which it (gelatine) is converted into a condition the basis of leather.
5. — The preservative properties of sugar, and the tendency to attract rather than yield moisture as gelatine does, prevent the subsequent drying and hardening of the pills.
6. — A round substance is more easily swallowed than one which is elongated, flattened, or pointed, there being no art in deglutition that would enable it to pass endwise.
7. — The colour and shape of some gelatine-coated pills are so inelegant by comparison with the round, white sugared pill, as to be repulsive to sensitive patients.
8. — Actual experiments, which you are enabled to perform as to solubility and the administration of a dose of cathartic pills, the effect of which is soon apparent, will practically demonstrate the truth of our cliims for the superiority of Wahnkr & Co.'s method over all others for coating pills.

Are made of the best materials ; perfectly protected ; entirely and quickly soluble ; coated while soft; not subjected to the injurious effects of heat in the process of manufacture. The mass is worked to the highest possible degree of uniform intermixture, and subdivided with scrupulous exactness. The coating is an inert, tasteless, and odourless compound, which is so transparent, colourless, and thin, that the distinctive colour of each pill is revealed through the coat. No sub-coating is used. The solubility of the coating is not impaired by age. All the officinal pills, as well as any others ordered by the Medical Profession, can be furnished in this form. They can be implicitly relied upon in every respect. The coating, while thoroughly protecting the pill, will not be found to in any way interfere with the action of the drug, and those who have found sugar or chalk-coated pills objectionable, owing
to the liability of the coating becoming insoluble by age, will find our coating to dissolve as readily after many years as when first prepared. It, moreover, does not form a hard tough shell, as is the case with the ordinary gelatine coating. We claim and believe our Coated Pills to be nearer perfection than any similar goods that have been offered, and guarantee the pills to be as quickly effective as any uncoated pills that can be made.

Fij?. 1 Stoppers, when invoiced separately, are ready fitted with the rubber washer on, and are easily inserted into the Bottle by the simple pressure of the thumb, the washer at the sam- time folding in the hollow part of the stern when passing into the Bottle, It is the only Stopper which requires no tool to fit the Bottle with ; and when a Bottle breaks, which allium occurs, the Stopper is alwa\ s fitted with this washer, ready to be inserted in a new Bottle. Therefore it is the most durable and inexpensive Stopper in the trade.
ADVANTAGES These Stoppers cannot break the Bottles. The smallest
surface of indiarubber ever exposed to the liquid of any Stopper out. The Stoppers are inserted without trouble. No extra co-t for Bottles. The Stopperi are cheap, very durable, and particularly clean. The Filling: Machine is not expensive, and quick in action. Any Filling Machine, however, will do. The Patentee guarantees the Stoppers perfect gasholders, therefore no leakage ia possible. That Bottles may be opened, with or without tin opener, by the pressure of the finger.

FIFTEEN GOOD REASONS WHY ALL CHEMISTS SHOULD JOIN THE
CHEMISTS' AERATED AND MINERAL
WATERS ASSOCIATION, Limited,

1. — Because, taking into consideration the superior ijiiality and the style in which the Waters are got up, they are cheaper than any supplied by other Manufacturers.
2. — Because none but Chemiits (Shareholders) can purchase the Waters direct; consequently, when a Chemist has created a sale, he cannot be undersold by Orocers : whereas, if he purchase from other manufacturers, he will generally perceive that if he succeed in establishing a ready sale for any brand, the same Waters will sewn he found to b<- offered by Grocers, Wine Merchants, &c, in his locality, at a lower price than that at which he can afford to sell.
3. — Because the Waters are acknowledged to be of the first and purest quality, being carefully filtered, and passed through silver, lined machinery, thereby preventing the possibility of any contamination whatever with injurious metals.
4. — Because, in addition to the ordinary Waters, Soda, Potash, and Lithia Waters can be obtained of B.P. strength, and every Chemist should stock some of these, as when Waters are ordered to be taken medicinally, B.P. preparations should always be supplied..
N.B.— At the Food Exhibition, Agricultural Hall, 1881, the Association's B.P. Waters obtained the only Prize Medal, and at Brad ford Exhibition, 1882, the Highest Medal was awarded.
5. — Because goods are invariably despatched on same day as order received, carefully and well packed in strong bin cases, thereby preventing breakage in transit. Town goods are delivered by the London Parcels Delivery Company, Limited, and empties collected free.
C. — Because the best Syphons, with tops manufactured from the puve9t tin, arc used ; also first-class ordinary bottles, carefully wired and labelled, and corked with superior corks.
7. — Because the labels state the exact strength of the Waters— an Essantial for Chemists' Trade.
